Physical education and health classrooms offer a unique environment where language barriers can either create isolation or serve as a gateway to dynamic, experiential learning. In this interactive session, participants will explore how to build an inclusive PE and Health environment where multilingual students feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive.

Guided by strategies from our Multilingual Framework, this workshop connects core theory directly to practical classroom execution. Led by a member of our Teacher Leadership Team, you will go beyond traditional strategy lists to experience teaching through the eyes of an English Learner. First, you’ll step into a immersive simulation of a PE lesson without language supports to experience the cognitive load, anxiety, and frustration many EL students face. Then, you will re-experience the same context transformed by concrete, framework-aligned techniques—such as visual scaffolding, non-verbal cues, modified grouping, and linguistically accessible movement routines.

You will leave with classroom-ready practices, actionable insights from real-world implementation, and a renewed perspective on making Health and PE an empowering space for every learner.
