Identity and Community: An Introduction to 6th Grade Social Studies

This sixth grade social studies unit explores themes of identity and community, while helping students and teachers build a productive, safe learning environment. This unit is first unit within the New Skyline Social Science curriculum for 6th grade.

Key Points:
As a result of participating in this workshop, you will:
- Receive access to a unit, Identity and Community
- Engage with the themes of identity and community, and learn how to integrate them into subsequent units throughout the school year
- Increase your ability to facilitate respectful classroom discussions
- Discover new teaching strategies that help students interrogate texts and write and think critically
